Treasurer’s
Report – Heidi
Heidi gave
a report of the current budget. Discussed 5th grade continuation and
whether PTA might pay for the room or admissions. Will do some research
and find out what PTA paid for last year.
Principal
Updates - Bill
For next year,
we expect 636 students and $2M budget. Class sizes will start out high
again next year. Diana West is retiring with approx. 25 yrs of service,
her entire career spent at Cotton Creek. Bill has permission to replace
her. Also have permission for 1 full day kindergarten class.
Trying to increase parking. Currently have 51 spaces for a staff of
80.
Students are finishing up CSAPs. Third grade reading results will be
issued before school ends and 3rd grade writing/math, 4th gr, &
5th gr results will be issued end of July.
Field day is May 27.
School starts next year on 8/19.
Bill is investigating whether he can pay for some field trips out of
district funds 17 & 18.
Fundraising

Latest cookie
dough fundraiser has just started. Orders are due Friday 4/18.
Mother/Son Update
- Cherie
Planning for
a luau theme. Menu to include traditional luau foods like smoked pork
& teriyaki chicken as well as pizza. Will also have armband tattoos,
two photographers, flower leis for Moms, shell leis for sons, and hula
dancers for entertainment.
The last movie night was April 4. Again, with successful crowd control.
Dinner Night – Mary Drake
We made $112
at the Chuck E. Cheese dinner night.
Next dinner night will be in April at Gunther Toody’s. Exact date
is being confirmed
Moovin’
& Groovin’ speaker – Mrs. Knapp
We had a speaker
from Mrs. Knapp’s kindergarten class come and tell about the recent
visit of animals from the Zoo. The kids enjoyed the presentation and thanked
us for paying the fee for the visit.

Another vote will take place at the May PTA meeting to elect a new secretary.
Other Business
April 23rd is
Administrative Assistants Day and the full day kindergarten lottery drawing.
Mary Drake received some playground items (balls, jumprope, Frisbee) from
a Cartoon Network promotion called “Rescuing Recess”. She
will provide the school volunteer hours as requested by the program. We
committed to 200 volunteer hrs from 3/23 to 6/8, which should be easily
attainable. We may receive more items.
Will look to reschedule Mrs. Larsen’s presentations, “The
Wonder of Boys” and “The Wonder of Girls”.
